AGTA’s GemFair Las Vegas 2024 report: while many dealers saw slower traffic, Eric Yen reported strong pearl sales, including PSL-certified Tennyo Akoya strands.
AGTA’s report from GemFair Las Vegas (May 30 – June 3, 2024) found many gemstone dealers facing lighter foot traffic and cautious buyers. Cultured pearls were a bright spot: Eric Yen reported strong sales, crediting long-standing relationships with pearl farmers overseas.
Among our standout offerings were 9.5–10 mm Japanese Akoya strands graded Tennyo by Pearl Science Laboratory, each sold with its PSL report. We were able to secure 11 strands for the year, and since the 2019 Akoya die-off, strands like these have been very hard to find.
AGTA later named this report one of its 10 most-read articles of 2024.
